Mařena

Mařena is a darkly absurd dungeon crawler rooted in Slavic mythology and Central European folklore. You wake up in a damp medieval underworld with a pounding headache and the strong suspicion that you deserve this. The hangover is so bad you’ve forgotten how to cast spells. You do have a spellbook — unfortunately, it now looks like meaningless scribbles. Your handbag contains rotten food, random pills, and other poor life choices. Maybe combining them will produce magic. Maybe not. Deep in the dungeon awaits the creatures you once accidentally cursed, and they are clearly not pleased to see you. Floating at your side is the dried head of your former cat, a sharp-tongued reminder of your failures. You don’t know how you got here but you have a sense that escape will confront you with something far more personal than monsters.
